Rock of Salvation
SYMBOLIZES SECURITY IN CHRIST
The LORD is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer. My God, my rock, in whom I take refuge.
Psalm 18:2 NAS
The symbol of Christ as the Rock bestows upon the Christian community a sense of security. Many hymns refer to Jesus as the Rock. One verse from the familiar hymn, “ The Solid Rock’” is as follows: “ My hope is built on nothing less than Jesus’ blood and righteousness I dare not trust the sweetest frame, but wholly lean on Jesus’ name. On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand All other ground is sinking sand.” The cross atop the rock symbolizes to Christians that Jesus died on Calvary for our sins, which gives to us the solid foundation on which to stand.
O come, let us sing for joy to the LORD let us shout joyfully to the rock of our salvation.
Psalm 95:1 NAS
